Posture, the root cause for Back Pain in Women
One of the most common complaints of middle-aged women across all socio-economic strata, whether they are office-going or homemakers, is back pain. Studies have shown that women are more prone to back pain than men.
Persistent back pain causes a lot of discomfort, and very few can come out of this problem. Depending on the severity of their pain, they take bed rest, medicines, physiotherapy, injections, and even interventional procedures.
Causes of back pain are many; a few are:
- Excessive weight
- Injury
- Wearing high heels
- Disc-related issues
- Kidney problem
- Infections
- Stress & anxiety
However, the most common cause is bad posture.
Bad posture leads to strain on muscles & causes back pain. The following can be included in the list of bad postures:
- Hunching in front of the computer
- Slouching on the sofa or chair
- Bending down while washing clothes or cooking
- Hunched sitting on the floor
- Walking with side bend
- Too many forward-bending activities
- Repeated improper way of lifting heavy things
- Improper mattress for sleeping
Hence, if you suffer from back pain, then the first thing that you should observe is your posture.
